So, what do I do to upload my character information to darkportal.net with the Dark Portal AddOn?
A step by step guide
- Download the newest version (2.1.2100) of the addon and put it in your AddOns-folder.
- Log into WoW with the character of which you want to collect information.
- Be sure to open all possible tabs and windows that contain information which you want to collect, e.g. the main character window (talent- honor-, skill- and other tabs), tradeskill windows, bank windows and so on. The addon only registers these if you remember to open the said windows and tabs!
- Go to your profile at darkportal.net.

Click the Upload game data-button on the left in the Actions-box, to add the information
you have gathered (DarkPortal.lua-file in "
World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT\SavedVariables").
When you are done with this, icons of the uploaded information will appear above your character's default picture and by clicking these you will be able to access all of the information you have uploaded.
Other files
Archive.lua - Save and override your old Archive.lua in the addon directory ("World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Darkportal"). Archive.lua helps you to limit the size of your addon data file.
Please note
- If you want to upload the information of several characters you own, you need to logout/exit your WoW in between uploads, so that the addon will start to collect all of the information from scratch.
- The layout for the gathered information isn't at the moment the usual WoW-look that most similar addons out there have. The layout is subject to change (suggestions and feedback are of course most welcome!) in the near future as the addon goes from beta to release-version.
- The addon does not affect the information you have entered about a character from the good old Edit character -page. This information is static and will for the time being have to be changed manually.
